History of Doomsday Book.

Until the mid 1920s Braunstone remained a large family estate  surrounded by farmsteads with title stretching back to the reign of  Edward The Confessor. The 13th Century church of St Peter,  together with several other properties of historical interest lies adjacent to Braunstone Lane, which divides that part of Braunstone from  the area bearing the same name in the City of Leicester.

Much of the historical background has been depicted in the Coat of  Arms granted to the Parish Council in 1976. Braunstone Parish Council  became Braunstone Town Council in 1977.
