About Glen Parva

The Parish of Glen Parva has a population of nearly 5,500 and extends along both sides of the A426 and the eastern section of the A5096. In recent years boundary reviews have reduced the size of the parish which adjoins Wigston and the southern development of Leicester. Glen Parva is one of 18 parishes in the Blaby District.

Glen Parva Manor HouseHistorically, the Manor House is of considerable interest. The building dates back to the 14th century and local records suggest that the ill-fated King Charles I stayed there after the Battle of Naseby. The 1.5 hectare site on which the Manor House stands was a fortified Saxon Moat. The Manor House itself is now a Public House and Restaurant.

Once the home of the Leicester Regiment (The Tigers), Glen Parva Barracks is divided as a result of a boundary change. The part remaining in the Blaby District is now a Young Offender's Centre.
