SANDS OF GLENFIELDA fine dining experience in GlenfieldA sophisticated and stylishly decorated, fully air conditioned restaurant, serving an excellent menu of fine indian cuisine. It has a clean, light, airy atmosphere, with minimalist décor and is very modern and relaxing in style. Unlike some of the rather gloomy curry houses of the past, Sands is well lit and up to date. The staff are attentive and always ready to be of service. Leather chairs and white table cloths, laid with an exclusive elegant cutlery set and china, creates a good feeling for the diners. Subtle music plays discretely in the background. The toilets are spotlessly clean and freshly laundered hand towels are offered in addition to the hand dryer. The spacious reception area next to the bar, enables customers to relax while their table is being prepared. The main eating area is partitioned from the entrance and reception by curved glass, allowing light into the main room. The magnolia walls are washed with mood lighting from the ceiling. There are specially commissioned artworks along the walls to add interest and colour to the ambience. Customers can park at the back of the restaurant, making this an easy place to reach. Sands restaurant prepares dishes and condiments in its own kitchens. Pickles, for example, are prepared in the premises, to authentic recipes. These are served with crisp, fresh, poppadoms, as a starter or compliment to various dishes. Coriander, yogurt, garlic and tumeric, for example, are used in one of the trays and makes a delicious dip for poppadoms, which are cooked on the premises and are a light and crisp. Diners are offered trays of pickles and dips that provide a good variety of tastes, some hot, others cool and fruity. The menu offers a pleasing range of dishes that are beautifully presented. One of the house specialities on the starters menu is Crispy Chicken. The Onion Bhajees are also prepared to the restaurant's own recipe. Crab and mustard with Mayonnaise, Pakoras, Cassava dips are some of the flavorful starters available on the menu. Available at the Bar is draught Kingfisher Indian lager which makes an excellent drink to have with Indian food and is brewed to achieve just the right taste and flavour to go very well with this cuisine. Draught Carlsberg and Tetley Smooth are also available for those preferring a more traditional beverage. There is an ample range of spirits and an extensive wine menu that includes a variety of Champagne and sparkling wines. The wine list encompassing the world of wine from both traditional European vineyards and further afield from the Americas, South Africa and the Pacific coasts of Australia and New Zealand. Dining at Sands is therefore a truly international experience! Mango and Chicken Kerri is a house speciality with the rich, fruity flavours of Southern India and is served with good sized chunks of chicken. Served with their authentic Pilau Rice, this is a very fine dish. The Pilau rice uses genuine saffron and aromatic spices. Chicken methi sagg is a signature dish of the head chef and is a must for all curry lovers. The Nan bread was excellent and baked on the premises in their own Tandoor (clay) oven. For desserts, traditional Indian dishes can be ordered. Kulfi differs from western ice cream recipes and is flavoured with Cardamom, Pistachio and rose water. and is very delicious and mouth watering. Reservations: 0116 287 1222 |
